AsiaXPAT was founded by expatriate Canadian Paul Luciw, and began serving the expatriate community of Hong Kong in 1999. The site’s initial focus was providing a resource for finding a property in Hong Kong, including share flats, long term leases and serviced apartments.
The site rapidly expanded to include a wide range of services including a buy and sell classifieds channel, advice forums, and a section to assist expats with finding a full or part time domestic helper. Personals and the Hong Kong business directory were soon added to round out an expansive range of content on the site.
AsiaXPAT was funded by a group of Canadian ice hockey players in Hong Kong including Richard Siemens, and was under the E-Kong Group umbrella of Hong Kong technology investments. A group of shareholders including the Founder bought out E-Kong and the company is currently majority owned by the Founder, Paul Luciw.
